1. THE DEFINITION OF THE TERM
"THE NEW NATURE."

The term "The Old Nature" as used in this analysis, Refers to the Old, Original, Hereditary, Adamic, Fallen, Depraved Human Nature of Man. The Old Nature is every Man's Possession by Generation, Nature, Birth, and Inheritance; and Paradoxically the Old Nature is not only Possessed by the Natural Man, but it Possesses, by Inherent Claim, Prerogative and Power, every.Natural Descendant of the First Man: The First Adam. The term "The New Nature" as used in this analysis, Refers the New, Imparted, Spiritual, Heavenly, Holy, Divine Nature bestowed Graciously and Gratuitously upon every Man who by Regeneration or the New Creation, Comes into its Possession; a Paradoxically, the New Nature is not only Possessed by the New Spiritual Man, but it Possesses, by Divine Claim, Prerogative and Power, every Spiritual Descendant of the Second Man: The Last Adam.

11. THE DESIGNATION OF THE NEW NATURE.

1. NOTATION: This Refers to the Various Names by which the Old Nature is known. The Pauline Epistles form the chief basis for our Study for the Reason that those Epistles form a distinct, important curriculum upon the theme: "THE OLD NATURE."

2. ENUMERATION: The Designations for the Old Nature appear to be SIX in Number. This may be by Divine Design, for SIX is the Number of the Natural Man in Scripture. Man came into Being upon the Sixth Day, and Six has been the Hallmark of Humanity throughout the Ages.

3. SPECIFICATION: The Names of the Old Nature.

(1) THE FLESH: Rom. 7:18, 8:5 Cp. Jno. 3:6.
NOTE: The word "Flesh" is Subject to Various Usages in the Scripture. Sometimes the Term Refers to:

A. The Mortal Bodies of Men or Animals: Gen. 6:12-13; 7:15-16; Jno.1:13; 17:2; 1Cor.15:39,50; 2 Cor. 4:11; Phil. 1:23-24.

B. Even the Earth-Body of Christ was termed "FLESH": Rom. 8:3; 1Tim. 3:16; Rom. 1:2; 9:8; 11:14; Eph. 2:15; Col. 1:22 Cp. Jno. 1:14.

C. The Specific Sense in which it is used in the Pauline Epistles: It Describes Human Nature in its Corporeal Embodiment, Signifying the Sinful Condition of the Human Fleshly Nature in Contrast to the Divine Spiritual Nature Imparted to Believers: Rom. 7:18; 8:4-5; 13:14 Cp. Jno. 3:6.



(2) THE NATURAL MAN:
1 Cor. 2:14 (In Contrast to the Spiritual Man).

(3) THE OLD MAN: Rom. 6:6; Eph. 4:22; Col. 3:9 (In Contrast to the New Man).


(4) THE OUTWARD MAN:
2 Cor. 4:16 (In Contrast to the Inward Man).

(5) THE CARNAL MIND: Rom. 8:7 (In Contrast to the Spiritual Mind).

(6) SIN: Rom. 6: Referring not to sins, or acts of transgression, but to the old nature that prompts or incites the soul to commit sins.

The Names of the New Nature.


(1) SPIRIT:
Rom. 8:9, 16; 1 Cor. 2:12 Cp. Jno. 3:6;
2 Pet.1:4, NOTE: The word "Spirit" is Subject to Various Usages in Scripture. Sometimes the Word Refers to:

A. The Character of Man: Man Possessing an Invisible Character or Spirit that is Known or Manifest through Action: Rom. 8:15; 1 Cor. 2:11; 4:21; 2 Cor. 7:1 Cp. Ps. 78:8; Prov.14:29; 16:18; 25:28.

B. The Members of the God-Head: The Father (Jno. 4:24 The Lord Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 6:17; 2 Cor. 3:17-18), The Holy Spirit (Jno. 14:16-17).

C. The Specific Sense in which it is used in the Pauline Epistles: It Describes a Spiritual Operation and ReIation by which God Communicates His own Life and Nature to Man;and this Gift is  termed "Spirit"or the "New Nature": Rom. 8:4-16 Cp. Jno. 3:6

(2) THE SPIRITUAL MAN: Rom. 8:5-6; 1 Cor. 3:1; Gal. 6:1 (In Contrast to the Natural Man).

(3) THE NEW MAN: 2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 6:15; Eph. 4:24; Col. 3:10-11 (In Contrast to the Old Man).

(4) THE INWARD MAN:
2 Cor. 4:16; Eph. 3:16 (In Contrast to the Outward Man).

(5) THE SPIRITUAL MIND: Rom. 8:4-6; 7:23-25; 1 Cor. 3: 1 (In Contrast to the Carnal Mind).

1. THE OLD NATURE IS OLD: Belongs to the Realm of "THE OLD MAN," Related to "THE FIRST MAN": Eph. 4:22; Rom. 6:6; Col. 3:9 Cp. 1 Cor. 15: 45-48.

2. THE OLD NATURE IS WHAT MAN POSSESSES BY THE OLD CREATION:
Rom. 5:12-19.

3. THE OLD NATURE POSSESSES NO INHERENT GOODNESS OR ATTAINED RIGHTEOUSNESS: Rom. 7:18; Eph. 2:1-3; Col. 2:13.

4. THE OLD NATURE IS ABSOLUTELY REPELLANT, DISPLEASING AND ABHORRENT TO GOD: Rom. 8:8 Cp. 1Cor. 1:29.

5. THE OLD NATURE IS THOROUGHLY WORTHLESS IN ITSELF AND VALUELESS TO GOD: Rom. 7:18; Jno. 6:63.

6. THE OLD NATURE IS UNALTERABLY NATURAL, FLESHLY, SENSUAL AND SINFUL: Rom. 8:7 Cp. Gal. 5:16; Eph. 2:2-3; Rom. 1:18-32; 1 Jno. 2:16.

7. THE OLD NATURE IS UNCHANGEABLE IN CHARACTER. It is therefore Impossible for the Old Nature to Undergo a Spiritual Transformation: Jno. 3:6 Cp. Rom. 6:7: Gal. 6:8; Eph. 4:22; Titus 1:15.

8. THE OLD NATURE IS SPIRITUALLY BLIND, OBLIVIOUS AND WITHOUT DISCRIMINATION AS TO THINGS DIVINE: 1Cor. 2:7-14; Eph. 4:18.

9. THE OLD NATURE IS PRONE TO DECEITFULNESS AND SELF-DELUSION: Eph. 4:22 Cp. Mk. 7:20-23; Jer. 17:9.

10. THE OLD NATURE IS LAWLESS. BOLSHEVIK. ANARCHISTIC. It Resists the Word and Will of God: Rom. 8:7; Gal. 4:29; 5:17.

11. THE OLD NATURE DISDAINS AND DESPISES SPIRITUAL TRUTHS AND THINGS: 1 Cor. 2:14; Rom. 8:5.

12. THE OLD NATURE CAPTIVATES, DOMINATES AND ENTHRALLS THE NATURAL MAN. Reigns within the Natural Man, it makes Man a Slave to Satan and to the Law of Sin: Rom. 6:16; 7:23; 8:5; 7:5.


13. THE OLD NATURE IS SUBJECT TO SENSUAL HUMAN CULTURE AND WISDOM:
2Cor. 1:12; 1Cor. 1:17-22; 2:1, 6-8,13; 3:19-20. Note: James 3:15.

14. THE OLD NATURE IS ANTAGONISTIC TO THE NEW NATURE: Is Contrary to it; Rebels against and Denies it the Right to Control the Life: Gal. 5:16-17; 4:29; Rom. 7.


15. THE OLD NATURE REIGNS IN THE LIFE OF THE UNBELIEVER:
Rom. 6:12, 20, 21.

16. THE OLD NATURE PRODUCES "WORKS OF THE FLESH": Gal. 5:19-21.

17. THE OLD NATURE CONFERS WITH FLESH AND
BLOOD:

22. THE OLD NATURE POSSESSES AN AFFECTION FOR ECCLESIASTICAL POPULARITY AND POSITION, HIGH PLACES AND LIBERAL HONORARIUMS.
IT SEEKS TO PLEASE THE WORLD AND THE WORLDLY AND POSSESSES AN EAR FOR LIBERAL PRAISE: 2 Tim. 4:10; Phil. 3:17-19; 1:15-16.

23. THE OLD NATURE RECEIVES A WAGE: Rom. 6:23.

24. THE OLD NATURE IS UNDER CONDEMNATION: Rom.5:-7


25. THE OLD NATURE CANNOT BE JUSTIFIED:
Rom. 3:20.

26. THE OLD NATURE LEADS TO CORRUPTION: Gal. 6:8.


27. THE OLD NATURE SHOULD BE DENIED AS TO ITS DESIRES AND DEMANDS:

11. THE NEW NATURE APPRECIATES, DESIRES AND VALUES SPIRITUAL TRUTH:
